The Institute for Economic Empowerment was established to confront one of the defining challenges of our time: ensuring that young people are equipped not only to participate in the economy, but to shape it.
We operate at the intersection of education, civic engagement, and economic strategy—developing practical frameworks that strengthen financial capability and expand long-term opportunity. Our approach integrates research, cross-sector collaboration, and scalable education models designed to prepare the next generation for informed economic participation.
With a particular focus on high school students, the Institute works to demystify financial systems, promote responsible economic decision-making, and cultivate leadership grounded in knowledge and access. We believe that early exposure to economic education builds confidence, resilience, and upward mobility.
By aligning institutional insight with community-centered implementation, we aim to influence how economic preparation is delivered—both inside and beyond the classroom.

Roy Paul brings more than a decade of experience advancing youth economic education and organizational leadership across nonprofit and institutional environments. His career has centered on expanding access to practical financial knowledge, strengthening program infrastructure, and building strategic partnerships across education and civic sectors.
A lifelong advocate for youth engagement, he became the youngest African-American elected to office in New York state.
Formerly, Roy served as CEO of Cents Ability, where he led large-scale financial literacy initiatives serving thousands of high school students annually. Under his leadership, the organization expanded its volunteer base, strengthened institutional partnerships, and increased access to personal finance education for students from historically underserved communities.
Today, as President and CEO of the Institute for Economic Empowerment, Roy continues his mission to ensure that young people gain the tools, knowledge, and institutional support necessary to navigate complex economic systems with confidence.
